Team represented Western New York in 10U State Championship Tournament in New York City
On Thursday, July 25th, the Orchard Park Little League 10U Baseball Team fell short of its goal of a State Title. Traveling to New York City for the State Championship Tournament, Orchard Park was one of only 6 teams left, statewide, to play for the title. Aside from Orchard Park, the other 5 qualifiers were from Delmar (Tri-Village Little League), Binghampton (Maine-Endwell Little League), LaGrangeville (LaGrange Youth Baseball near Poughkeepsie), Commack (Commack South Little League) and Staten Island (Mid-Island Little League).
To reach the State Championship, Orchard Park won 8 straight games. During this stretch, the team outscored their competition. While only giving up 13 runs in 8 games, the team had smoldering hot bats, scoring 96 runs (for a run differential of +83).
In the Bronx, Orchard Park lost to Tri-Village and Maine-Endwell, eliminating their championship hopes. The 2013 Orchard Park 10U district team finished with a record of 8 and 2, covering 1,146 miles on their one month journey. Aside from representing Western New York in the State Championship, the boys won the District 1 Championship, won the Section 1 Championship, made new friends, played good baseball, ate meals together, took the train to New York City and spent a day touring the Big Apple.
