December 14, 2009- Meeting Minutes

2nd Meeting of the 2010 OPLL Board

Before general meeting began John Strong of Youth Sports New York – SUNY Youth Sports Institute discussed training and certification for youth coaches,

President Report:  Tom Roward

Registration all set for January 1, 2010.  There will be one morning for on-site registration on January 9, from 9:00 am- 12:00 pm at the OP Middle School.  At this time used softball/baseball equipment/apparel may be dropped off.  These items will be donated to a group within WNY area. 

Winter ball and evaluations scheduled.  Review calendar to make any necessary changes.

Softball and baseball will each have one day for picture day.

The little league will offer a “Tent Sale” with OPLL apparel available for ordering when uniforms are handed out.

Manager Committee will be a group that researches an issue and solves the problem.  Anyone has the right to request that the committee look into a concern.

There has been positive feedback about cutting back on play-off games.

Director of Softball:  Joe Pici

To date, five teams have signed up for softball tournament.  Some teams are from out of town. Softball equipment in good shape for the upcoming season.   

Treasurer:  Jim Biddle-   not present

During the first 3 months of every fiscal year there is very little financial activity and the current year is no exception.  There are only three items:

Safety Officer:  Jim Ryan

Working on dates for certification classes.

Baseball Tournament and Travel Director:  Eric Dietz

The 10, 11, and 12 year olds are practicing at Sahlems Park on Tuesday nights.  Attendance is better than expected.  Working on schedule for the 9 year olds.

Softball Tournament and Travel Director:  Tim Frappa (not present)

 Coaching Coordinator:  Rich Galas ( not present)

Winter house session at New ERA baseball: 4 - sessions for $50,                                            8 - sessions for $100 one day each weekend.  Justin can handle 500 participants for this program, No age group assignment, but have stations based on age.  Possible promotion on this program the end of December.

Get rolling on sponsors and fund raising ideas.

Strategic Planning Committee

This committee will begin to discuss plans for the Holmes and Murphy property. 

Director of Grounds & Facilities:  Tim Fitzgerald- (not present)

There is a “Zero” budget for capital improvements.  Requested a list of what is needed.  The town has closed on the Holmes and Murphy property.  Potentially, 2- 60 ft. diamonds, built to little league recommendations with the fields being ready for the 2011 season.
