May 10, 2010 Meeting Minutes

^7th Meeting of the 2010 OPLL Board

President Report:  Tom Roward

Parade cancelled due to weather and will not be rescheduled due to game and tournament schedules. 

Possibly an end of the year event for the kids. 

Boys will have the Super Saturday event and the Girls will have a Tourney Weekend Play-off.

Potential Movie Night or some fun event at the end of the season.

No updates on Holmes and Murphy at this time.  Purchase Order on tractor is complete.

Thanks to Rick Galas for getting the 2010 By-laws completed.

Volunteer applications have been approved for the season.

Treasurer:  Jim Biddle (not in attendance)

Report was e-mailed to all board members.

Baseball: Tom Prince (not in attendance)

Softball:  Joe Pici

Girl’s Softball Tourney – 14U/16U May 15 & May 16, 10U/12U May 22 & 23

Help needed for the weekend of May 22 & 23 as Joe will be out of town.

House league is ready to go for the season.

Safety Officer:  Jim Ryan

The league had an injury with dental work this past week. There was also a head injury this evening at the park. 

Commission filled out the AIG forms for injury.  Some extra forms will be located in the office at Duerr Road.

Trained 16 people for the AED.  Willing to offer another training if needed- minimum of 10 people. 

American League fence looks good.

Sponsors:  Pete Murray

Sponsors in good shape.  Have artwork for all sponsors and everything is in production. 

Everything should be complete within the next 2 weeks. 

A sponsor- Upstate Milk-Intense Milk has given the league certificates for each player to receive a free drink. 

These certificates will be given to Commissioners.

Baseball Equipment:  Don Jank

All equipment has been handed out.  Ordered new travel/tournament uniforms.  Laux has taken care of problems with uniforms.

Softball Equipment:  Karen Roward

No issues at this time

Grounds: Tim Fitzgerald

The purchase order has been written for the tractor. 

If board members see any safety issues on the fields please bring to Tim Fitzgerald and Tom Rowards attention.

For safety concerns there should be 3 coaches and a scorekeeper in the dug-out.

Travel & Tourney Softball:  Tim Frappa

The softball season starts Tuesday, May 11.

Special Events Coordinator:  Dave O’Brochta & Scott Addeo

“Bases Loaded” event to sponsor OPLL Saturday, June 12, 2010. 

• Every coach will get 10 tickets to sell to parents
• Coaches will tell parents about the event
• Every coach needs to find a team parent to organize a $50 theme basket for the Chinese Auction
• Promotion will be posted at the concession stands and on the website
• This is an optional event to support the league

The goal of the fund raiser is to have softball and baseball all played at Duerr Road fields.

Strategic Planning

Unfortunately, no possibility of 2 new diamonds for next season.

New Business

Joe Stallone will get information to Little League by June 6, 2010.

Little League tournament starts June 26, which will interfere with house league again.
