November 9, 2009- Meeting Minutes

1st Meeting of the 2010 OPLL Board

President Report:  Tom Roward

The meeting was called to order. Dave O’Brachta voted in as Special Event Coordinator and Karen Roward as Softball Equipment Manager.

Welcome, congratulations and introduction of all new members.

Need a complete operating schedule by the December meeting.

On-line registration will be the same as last year starting 1/1/10.  On-site registration will only be one day- 1/9/10.   Old equipment drive to be done in conjunction with on-site registration.

Evaluations need to be scheduled.  Fundraising for capital improvements a must!  Insurance/charter is up to date.  Any by-law changes need to be on the January 2010 agenda.  We need to finalize our wants for the Holmes & Murphy property.  April school break is during our opening weekend for National, International and American Leagues.

Director of Baseball:  Tom Prince

Trying to come up with ways to end the season (including play-offs) by July 4th.  Probably means changes to play-off formats.  Discussed internet camera options on each Duerr Road as possible fundraiser.  Baseball committee is going to try and publish an evaluation guideline pamphlet, so all evaluation ratings can try to become more consistent.

Director of Softball:  Joe Pici

Softball registration numbers should be similar to last season.  With that assumption softball will need 3 diamonds on Monday and Wednesday evenings, 2 diamonds on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, and 3 diamonds on Saturday at 10:30 am and 3 diamonds at 1:00 pm.  The play-off format for Majors and Seniors will be a weekend tournament instead of 2 weeks of play-offs.

There will be 7 travel teams for the 2010 season- 2 each for 10U, 12U, 14U and 1 for 16U. Possibility 2 tournaments – May 14-16 hosting 14U and 16U teams, May 21-23 hosting 10U and 12 U teams.

A suggestion was made to have an OPLL Golf Tourney to raise funds for capital improvements, such as skinning the diamonds and or lights for California back diamond.
