AMERICAN LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

PLAYOFF RULES WHICH DIFFER FROM THE REGULAR SEASON RULES:

REGULAR SEASON RULES WORTHY OF SPECIAL SCRUTINY IN THE PLAYOFFS

 Follow pitch count rules…..

·         Pitchers league must adhere to the following rest requirements:

o    If a player pitches 61 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.

o    If a player pitches 41 - 60 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.

o    If a player pitches 21 - 40 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.

o    If a player pitches   1 - 20 pitches in a day, no   (0) calendar day  of rest must be observed.

If a pitcher throws in three innings (the maximum allowed), two days rest required.  That is, if he pitches 3 on Saturday, he can’t pitch until Tuesday. If he pitches Monday, he can’t pitch until Thursday, etc. (AS IN ALL LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENTS, THIS RULE IS HARSHER ON SOME TEAMS THAN OTHERS BECAUSE OF THE SCHEDULE-hopefully you have all developed 5-6 pitchers by now.)

A pitcher once removed cannot return to pitch in the same game.

RECORDING GAME RESULTS & SUMMARY SHEETS:

AFTER THE GAME, the manager of the winning team must record pitchers and pitch counts in the coaches office at Duerr Rd.  Please email score to Commissioner.  Winning team must also write in brackets the winner and loser of the game in the appropriate place.  Brackets will be located at the bulletin board.

PEEWEE CALL UPS:

Any PEE-WEE player called up for a game will be put into the batting rotation.  A PEE-WEE Player is not allowed to play any key position (infield, pitcher, catcher), unless you have called up five players to fill your roster, then no pitching or catch.  PEE-WEE Players MUST be placed at the end of the batting order.

YOU MAY ONLY CALL UP PLAYERS FROM YOUR PREVIOUSLY ASSIGNED TEAMS.  Let me know if there are circumstances that prevent you from using a call-up from one of those teams (e.g. the teams have a Pee Wee game).

All teams make the playoffs and whenever possible. A double elimination format should be used. The higher seeded team should be the home team for first round games. Some teams in some leagues may have byes in the first round-that will be their reward for finishing at or near the top during the regular season. For all other games (in both the winners and losers brackets) there should be a coin toss to determine the home team, except that if we get to a second championship game then the teams should swap who is home and who is away.
