Opening Day Celebration - May 6, 2023

We are hosting our Opening Day Celebration this Saturday, May 6. The celebration will begin with our parade down Thorn Avenue, ending at the Duerr Road fields for opening ceremonies. Below are the full details. Please reach out to your coach with any questions.

Date: Saturday, May 6
Drop-off location: OP Middle School parking lot
Attire: House baseball/softball uniforms. We strongly recommend sneakers instead of cleats.

Schedule:
Arrival times are staggered, based on division, to allow families to drop off players while limiting traffic near the school:
-10am - 10:15am: Baseball Seniors, Majors, Minors and Juniors
-10am - 10:15am: Softball Seniors, Majors and Minors
-10:15am - 10:30am: Baseball Pee Wee
-10:15am - 10:30am: Softball Rookies
-10:15am - 10:30am: Tee Ball

10:45am - parade begins
11:30am/12pm - opening ceremonies begin at Duerr Road Field 2
1pm/1:30pm - games begin

In the event of rain, we will notify families by 8am via email. You can also check our Facebook page for updates.

Please arrive during your designated arrival time noted above to prevent crowding and to allow for the events to start on time. With over 1000 players, it can be very busy.

There will be chalk markers to designate where each team should line up, with the oldest teams closest to the tennis courts. Each team will march together, starting with our youngest players and ending with our oldest. Parents, siblings, family and friends are encouraged to line up along the parade route to cheer on the kids. You may consider bringing chairs and blankets, as well.

Route:
Kids will line up at OP Middle School, walk south on South Lincoln, turn right onto Thorn Avenue and then left into the OPLL back parking lot on Thorn. These streets will be blocked off during the parade, so if you do not plan to stay for the entire walk, we recommend parking outside the route.

As the teams arrive in the Duerr Road facility, they will be directed to sit in the outfield as a team to watch the opening ceremonies. After all of the kids have entered the field, spectators are invited to fill in the outfield behind the players.

We have an amazing grounds crew that has been working hard to get the fields prepped and ready for this weekend. Please be respectful of their efforts by taking all trash and belongings with you at the end of the ceremony and do not walk on the infield.
