If your daughter loved softball this year and would like to continue on and try out for a travel team, the information on tryouts for the OP Starz are below. Be sure to register ahead of time.
Please note that playing on a travel team is a year-long commitment. Each coach sets their own practice schedule, games and tournaments. Every coach is different in their season plans, so we highly recommend you reach out to the prospective coach to get a better idea of what the plans for the 2024 season may entail. The coach should also be able to share with you projected cost for the year.
During tryouts, expect your child to be evaluated on timed base running, throwing accuracy, fielding fundamentals, and hitting. Pitching and catching will be evaluated for older teams.
Each team typically takes 10-13 girls on a roster. If your child does not make the team, do not give up! First, ask for feedback from the coach on what skills need to be improved. Second, If this is what your child wants, we can help you find a team within another travel organization. Consider following the Niagara Frontier Girls softball page and the Metro girls softball page on Facebook. They advertise other organizations' tryouts and also usually post a day-by-day list of organizations still looking for players.
We wish all the girls luck!
